This is a great course for anyone looking to make the leap into business management or existing business managers wishing to brush up on their skills. The course is grouped into two categories, ‘core skills’ and ‘soft skills’.
Core skills mainly cover software applications a business manager will most likely encounter in their day-to-day activities. These include Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentation, SharePoint (for the distribution of information across your team and throughout the company) and Visio – which is used in the presentation of business modelling. The core skills also include Six Sigma, which is a quality management process utilises statistical analysis and is used by such companies as Motorola, GE (General Electric), Xerox, and Samsung.
The soft skills are based more around developing your personal skills such as negotiating ability, relationship building (which is important to your staff and clients), written and oral communication, leadership skills, business ethics, and presentation skills. There are also two bonus modules which focus on doing business in two of the fastest growing economies in the world: China and India. These modules will give you a better insight into these market economies which will help to guide your decision as a business manager into ultimately investing in these markets.
